The Darker "Look"
of Organic
Organic sausages simply look different than
their non-organic cousins because of the use of organic spices.
Most sausages today are made with water
soluble seasonings. These seasonings essentially dissolve
in water and are then added to the suasage meat. The result
is a sausage that has the "look" of the meat it is made from
with little or no color change. In fact, many commercial
sausages have water soluble preservatives and acids that
actually enhance the red color many asociate with freshness.
Andy's Organic sausages use, as you may have
guessed, organic spices. These spices are ground fresh to
form our seasoning
blend,
then mixed in a powder or crushed form into our organic sausage
meat. These fresh ground spices impart their color
to the meat.
Organic suasages thus appear darker, often
much darker, than their non-organic equivalents. Thus, when
buying organic sausages, you must rely on the "Sell By" date
and not that "fresh look" you may be accostomed to seeing
in mass produced commercial products.
The "look" of organic may be new to you, but
this was the way all sausages looked not so long ago. You
can be confident that our product is fresh and is full of
Old World Goodness-- this is our promise to you in delivering
the benefits of our organic sausages to you and your family.
Enjoy!
SPECIAL NOTE: We have recently introduced
a line of organic sausages that use water soluble spices
that fully meet the requirements for organic certification.
This change was compelled by difficulties in sourcing organic
spices that met our quality and microbe count standards.
Unlike most water soluble spices, our formulation is free
of genetically modified organisms, synthetic solvents and
irradiation. Please feel free to contact us with any questions
about this alternative formulation. |
